50 Fostering Sustainable Ecosystems About the Report Leadership Messages About the Theme Corporate Overview Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality Assessment Our ESG priorities and Performance Emission Reduction Initiatives In order to align our emissions management strategy with the global objectives of reducing carbon footprint and addressing climate change risks, we have optimized our procedures to bring us closer to the shared decarbonization objective. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is not only a crucial business necessity for us but it also plays a significant role in our commitment to environmental stewardship. The below figure reflects our on-going efforts towards achieving this common goal: GSEZ has made a pledge to establish both short-term and long-term emission reduction goals based on scientific principles, in accordance with the SBTi criteria. By adopting the SBTi target, we will actively participate in the Race to Zero campaign, aiming to achieve a net zero value chain greenhouse gas emission by 2050. This commitment is in line with the Paris Agreement’s objective of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees celsius. GSEZ is first carbon neutral certified zone in Africa by SGS. In Togo, we procure 100% renewable energy consumed in Scope 2 activities.
