Fostering Sustainable Ecosystems - Sustainability Report 2023

52 Fostering Sustainable Ecosystems About the Report Leadership Messages About the Theme Corporate Overview Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality Assessment Our ESG priorities and Performance Our Energy Conservation Initiatives We monitor our electricity usage using energy meters, in addition to maintaining logbooks to monitor diesel and petrol usage. As we progress towards achieving carbon neutrality, our goal is to enhance our reliance on renewable sources of energy. To achieve this objective, we have initiated solar power plant project in Chad, while exploring alternative energy fuels in form of biomass in Benin. The majority of our activities are powered by electricity sourced from the grid and diesel operated DG sets for stationary purposes, while we depend on petrol for mobile operations. The table below provides an overview of the energy consumption in Arise IIP in the reporting period: Non-Renewable Energy Renewable Energy 16% 84% Arise IIP Energy Mix Fuel Category Energy Consumption (in GJ) Diesel 1,17,041 Petrol 4,413 Propane 25,979 Electricity 63,764 Biomass 9401 Total 2,20,599 GJ Renewable Electricity in Togo In Togo, 100% electricity in our operations is sourced from renewable energy, specifically solar power, which is obtained from thirdparty suppliers. It constitutes 36% of our total energy demand. By sourcing our electricity from solar power, we are able to significantly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and decrease our overall environmental impact. Additionally, by working with third-party suppliers, we are able to support the growth of the renewable energy industry in Togo and contribute to the development of a more sustainable energy infrastructure in the country. 32 11 21 1 9 38 56 47 7 Gabon Togo Benin Chad Energy Mix by SEZ (in ‘000 GJ) Electricity (RE) Electricity (Non-RE) Biomass Fuel Unlocking Solar Potential in Chad We have successfully completed the installation and activation of the largest rooftop solar project in Chad. This project, with a capacity of 500kW, is located on the roof of the factory shed at abattoir in Moundou, Chad. It serves as a captive source of electricity, replacing the consumption of fossil fuel through diesel generators. By undertaking this project, we are reaffirming our commitment to promoting the adoption of clean energy solutions and driving
