To reduce the water usage and improve water efficiency, the three verticals of GDIZ textile park BTEX, BTC and STB are installing effluent treatment and zero liquid discharge plants which will become operational in the next calendar year. Case Study: Leading the way to Food Security through Sustainable Water Utilization Our Agri-Value Chain team in PIA, Togo has launched a Model Farm project with aim to support local farmers in harvesting success. The project’s purpose is to reduce the cost of production, farmmechanization, crop planning etc., that leads to ecologically conscious farming. The AVC team strives to harmoniously blend traditional farming practices and contemporary farmmechanization techniques to enhance crop production. Following are the key highlights of the initiative: 2,000 Model Farms have been established across Togo by PIA AVC Team, promoting sustainable practices resulting in 30-35% increase in yield and minimum 75000 CFA/Ha increase in income for farmers. Installed 30 borewells providing farmers with clean drinking water as well as assured irrigation for their crops. 50% reduction in terms of water consumption and 75% in labour time, due to the largescale use of cutting-edge drone spray technology.
