This involves undertaking sustainable practices for commodities such as cashews, pineapple, and soya, thus ensuring that the agricultural processes used do not contribute to deforestation or excessive carbon emissions. Certifications Achieving certifications like LEED and EDGE in buildings and factories demonstrates a commitment to sustainability. Arise IIP’s facilities in Benin and Togo have achieved LEED Silver certification, and EDGE certification, showing how industrial buildings can be designed and operated to minimise environmental impact. These certifications provide a framework for creating energy-efficient, low-carbon buildings. Sustainable Innovation At Arise IIP, we have made remarkable progress in the reporting period focusing on innovation and technology to measure and mitigate our carbon footprint. In our operations in Benin, via GDIZ, we manufacture textiles from the cottonrich region, while harnessing climateAt Arise IIP, we have identified 108 key performance indicators measuring carbon neutrality, circular economy, diversity and inclusion, and responsible supply chain management. The SAP solutions offer a single platform to track and report on all these indicators. This is a crucial step to ascertain our carbon footprint, among other environmental indicators, and align programs for reduction in future. The textile industry is responsible for up to 10% of global emissions. From producing raw fibers for textiles to processing, dyeing, production, and distribution, there is a great opportunity to improve sustainability across the entire textile value chain in Africa. That’s why we are working with SAP to integrate sustainability data across our operations. Vinodanand Jha, Group CIO, Arise IIP smart agriculture practices, and reduce our carbon footprint.
