Fostering Sustainable Ecosystems - Sustainable Report 2024

54 Fostering Sustainable Ecosystems Message from CEO Corporate Overview Corporate Governance and Business Ethics About the Report From the soya value chain, At Arise IIP, we ensure full utilization of the soya bean by converting oil-extracted residues into high-protein soya meals for animal feed and repurposing soya hulls for feed or bioenergy. This closed-loop approach minimizes waste, reduces emissions from residue disposal, and reinforces circularity across the agro-industrial process. This practice diverts agricultural residues from landfills or open burning (common in conventional farming systems), thereby preventing methane and CO₂ emissions and reducing environmental impact. In our textile parks in Benin, We integrate advanced technologies to promote sustainable water and chemical management. In the GDIZ textile park, all three verticals—BTEX, BTC, and STB—are equipped with Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems that treat and recover 99% of wastewater and sludge, in line with ZDHC guidelines, significantly reducing water usage and improving efficiency. To eliminate hazardous substances, we apply Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) protocols and adheres to the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL). The first chemical inventory audit achieved 100% compliance. These circular water and chemical practices align with global sustainability standards—including EU REACH and GOTS—and enhance Arise IIP’s positioning as a reliable partner for environmentally responsible textile production.
